American hard rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by guitarist Tracii Guns. Original lineup briefly included Axl Rose before his departure to co-found Guns N' Roses (which took its name partly from L.A. Guns). Long-running lineup eventually centered on Tracii Guns and vocalist Phil Lewis.
Released over a dozen studio albums starting with L.A. Guns (1988). Commercial peak: Cocked & Loaded (1989, featuring the ballad "The Ballad of Jayne"). The band has frequently split into competing lineups led by Guns and Lewis respectively before reuniting in 2017.
