American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1985. Lineup: Donita Sparks (vocals/guitar), Suzi Gardner (vocals/guitar), Jennifer Finch (bass, 1986-1996, 2014-present), and Dee Plakas (drums, 1988-present). One of the foundational all-female bands of the 1990s alternative rock wave.
Seven studio albums between L7 (1988) and Scatter the Rats (2019). Commercial peak: Bricks Are Heavy (1992, featuring "Pretend We're Dead"). The band split in 2001 and reunited in 2014; Scatter the Rats was their first studio album in 20 years. A 2017 documentary film, L7: Pretend We're Dead, chronicled their history.
