American rock band formed in Springfield, Missouri in 1980 (originally as the Edge). Long-running trio: Doug Pinnick (bass/vocals), Ty Tabor (guitar), and Jerry Gaskill (drums). Style fuses hard rock, progressive rock, Beatles-influenced harmony, and gospel.
Thirteen studio albums starting with Out of the Silent Planet (1988). Critical peak: Gretchen Goes to Nebraska (1989) and Faith Hope Love (1990). The band has been continuously active since 1980 with the same three-member lineup — exceptionally rare for any rock band over a 45-year span.
