Danish heavy metal singer (born Kim Bendix Petersen, 1956) and the band of the same name. Initially fronted Mercyful Fate (1981-1985, reunions thereafter) before launching the solo band project in 1985. Known for theatrical horror-themed concept albums and a distinctive falsetto vocal style with corpse-paint stage presentation.
Thirteen studio albums under the King Diamond name including Abigail (1987), Them (1988), Conspiracy (1989), and The Eye (1990). Guitarist Andy LaRocque has been the band's longest-serving member since 1985. The band has been on production hiatus since Give Me Your Soul... Please (2007) but continues to tour.
