American indie rock band formed in Pittsburgh in 1991 by Karl Hendricks (vocals/guitar, 1970-2017). Style draws on lo-fi indie rock and noisy guitar-driven songwriting comparable to Built to Spill and the Silver Jews.
Released seven studio albums between Buick Electra (1992) and The Adult Section (2001). Subsequent work was released as the Karl Hendricks Rock Band. Hendricks died at age 46 in 2017 of throat cancer. His record store, Sound Cat Records, remains a Pittsburgh fixture under new ownership.
