American singer-songwriter and guitarist born November 17, 1966, in Anaheim, California; died May 29, 1997. Son of folk singer Tim Buckley. Distinguished by a multi-octave vocal range and a unique melding of folk, rock, soul, jazz, and qawwali influences.

Released only one full studio album during his lifetime: Grace (1994), which received widespread critical acclaim and grew into a posthumous classic. His recording of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" has become the definitive version for many listeners. Died at age 30 in a swimming accident in the Wolf River while working on his second album, My Sweetheart the Drunk (released posthumously in 1998 as Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk).
