American singer-songwriter, surfer, and filmmaker born May 18, 1975, in North Shore, Oahu. First gained prominence as a documentary filmmaker (the surf film Thicker Than Water, 2000) before launching a music career.
Released nine studio albums between Brushfire Fairytales (2001) and Meet the Moonlight (2022). Commercial peak: On and On (2003), In Between Dreams (2005, his biggest album, featuring "Better Together" and "Banana Pancakes"), and Sleep Through the Static (2008). Co-founded Brushfire Records, his own label, in 2002.
