American pop rock band formed in San Francisco in 1979 by vocalist Huey Lewis (Hugh Cregg III). Lineup of Lewis, guitarists Chris Hayes and Johnny Colla, bassist Mario Cipollina, keyboardist Sean Hopper, and drummer Bill Gibson stayed largely intact for decades.
The 1983 album Sports sold over 7 million copies in the US and produced four top-10 singles ("Heart and Soul," "I Want a New Drug," "The Heart of Rock & Roll," "If This Is It"). "The Power of Love" from Back to the Future (1985) was their first #1. Fore! (1986) continued the commercial run with "Stuck with You" and "Hip to Be Square." Lewis revealed Ménière's disease in 2018, ending touring. Eleven studio albums total.
