American singer, spoken-word artist, writer, and actor born February 13, 1961, in Washington, D.C. First gained prominence as vocalist for Black Flag (1981-1986); subsequently led the Rollins Band and pursued an extensive spoken-word and acting career.
Released ten Rollins Band studio albums between Hot Animal Machine (1987) and Get Some Go Again (2000). Solo spoken-word albums and books span dozens of releases. Acting credits include Heat (1995), Lost Highway (1997), and the title role in the film He Never Died (2015). Long-running radio host on KCRW (2009-2016).
