American hardcore band formed in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1994. Lineup: Jamey Jasta (vocals), Chris Beattie (bass), Wayne Lozinak (guitar, 1994-1999, 2009-present), and Matt Byrne (drums, 2001-present). Foundational to the hardcore-metal crossover "toughguy" subgenre and influential on subsequent metalcore.
Nine studio albums starting with Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire (1997). Best-known releases include Perseverance (2002), The Rise of Brutality (2003), and For the Lions (2009, a covers album). Jasta hosts The Jasta Show podcast and previously hosted Headbangers Ball on MTV2 (2003-2007).
