After spending his early career performing his father's material, transitioned in the late 1970s to a Southern-rock-influenced country sound that would define his commercial peak.

Released over 50 studio albums between Hank Williams Jr. Sings the Songs of Hank Williams (1964) and Rich White Honky Blues (2022). Commercial peak: Family Tradition (1979), Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound (1979), Habits Old and New (1980), and Greatest Hits (1982). Long-running performer of the Monday Night Football theme "All My Rowdy Friends Are Here on Monday Night" (1989-2011, returned in 2017).
