Italian record producer and composer born Hansjörg Moroder on April 26, 1940, in Urtijëi, Italy. Pioneer of electronic dance music and one of the most influential disco-era producers. Often credited as the "Father of Disco."

Released over a dozen solo studio albums starting with That's Bubblegum, That's Giorgio (1969). Best-known production work includes Donna Summer's I Remember Yesterday (1977, featuring "I Feel Love" — widely considered the foundational electronic dance track), the Midnight Express soundtrack (1978, Oscar-winning), and Flashdance (1983, including "What a Feeling" — also Oscar-winning). Won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1984 for "Take My Breath Away" (from Top Gun).
