Scottish singer-songwriter (1947-2011). Born in Paisley, Scotland. First gained prominence as a member of Stealers Wheel (1972-1975, featuring the hit "Stuck in the Middle with You") before launching a solo career.

Released ten solo studio albums between Can I Have My Money Back? (1971) and the posthumous Life Goes On (2009). Commercial peak: City to City (1978), which sold over 5 million copies on the strength of "Baker Street" (with its iconic Raphael Ravenscroft saxophone solo) and "Right Down the Line." Subsequent peak: Night Owl (1979).
