American rock band formed in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1989 (originally as Small the Joy). Long-running lineup centered on Carl Bell (guitar/songwriter) and Brett Scallions (vocals, 1994-2006, 2010-present). Style draws on post-grunge and alternative rock.
Five studio albums starting with Sunburn (1998, multi-platinum, featuring "Shimmer"). Subsequent peaks: Something Like Human (2000, featuring "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)") and Natural Selection (2003). Released Anomaly (2024) after a decade-plus gap. Continues to tour.
