American smooth jazz supergroup formed in 1990. Lineup: Bob James (keyboards), Lee Ritenour (guitar, 1990-1997), Larry Carlton (guitar, 1997-2009), Chuck Loeb (guitar, 2010-2017, died 2017), Nathan East (bass), and Harvey Mason (drums). One of the most commercially successful smooth-jazz acts of the 1990s and 2000s.
Released twelve studio albums between Fourplay (1991) and Silver (2015). Best-known releases include Fourplay (1991), Between the Sheets (1993), and Elixir (1995). The band has been on hiatus since Loeb's 2017 death.
