American industrial metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1989. Long-running lineup centered on Burton C. Bell (vocals, 1989-2020) and Dino Cazares (guitar, 1989-2002, 2009-present). Foundational to industrial metal alongside Ministry and Nine Inch Nails; the band's clean/harsh dual vocal approach influenced subsequent metalcore and nu-metal acts.
Ten studio albums starting with Soul of a New Machine (1992). Best-known releases include Demanufacture (1995), Obsolete (1998), and Digimortal (2001). Bell departed in 2020 after extended legal disputes with Cazares; the band has continued with new vocalist Milo Silvestro.
