American hip-hop trio formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1982. Lineup: Mark "Prince Markie Dee" Morales (died 2021), Damon "Kool Rock-Ski" Wimbley, and Darren "Buff Love" Robinson (died 1995). Originally known as the Disco 3 before adopting the Fat Boys name. Pioneered the comedic, lighthearted style of hip-hop and the use of human beatboxing.
Six studio albums between Fat Boys (1984) and Mack Daddy (1991). Commercial peak: Crushin' (1987, featuring the Beach Boys collaboration "Wipeout"). The trio also appeared in the films Krush Groove (1985) and Disorderlies (1987).
