Desmond Dekker & The Aces

0 concerts · 1 record

Jamaican vocal group fronted by Desmond Dekker (1941-2006). The Aces — comprising brothers Wilson James, Easton Barrington Howard, and Patrick Johnson — provided harmony vocals behind Dekker on most of his late-1960s commercial peak. The group was credited as "Desmond Dekker & The Aces" on many of the original Pyramid and Beverley's recordings.

The collaboration produced "Israelites," "007 (Shanty Town)," and many other ska and rocksteady classics. Dekker continued as a solo artist after the Aces' departure in 1969.
