American rock band formed in Charlestown, Indiana in 1995 by Travis Meeks (vocals/guitar). Style draws on acoustic-driven post-grunge and alternative rock.
Three studio albums between Days of the New (1997, multi-platinum, featuring "Touch, Peel and Stand" and "Shelf in the Room") and Days of the New III (2001). The original lineup (Meeks, Todd Whitener, Jesse Vest, Matt Taul) departed after the debut to form Tantric; Meeks has continued under the Days of the New name with rotating personnel. His public struggles with substance abuse have been documented in Intervention (2009).
