American pop duo of Daryl Hall (born 1946) and John Oates (born 1948), formed in Philadelphia in 1970. One of the best-selling musical duos of all time, with estimated worldwide sales over 80 million units.

Released 18 studio albums between Whole Oats (1972) and Home for Christmas (2006). Commercial peak: Voices (1980), Private Eyes (1981), H2O (1982, featuring "Maneater"), and Big Bam Boom (1984). Six #1 US singles. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. The duo legally dissolved their partnership in acrimony in 2023.
