American heavy metal band formed in Lodi, New Jersey in 1987 by Glenn Danzig (vocals, previously of the Misfits and Samhain). Long-running lineup also included John Christ (guitar, 1987-1995), Eerie Von (bass, 1987-1995), and Chuck Biscuits (drums, 1987-1994). Style draws on heavy metal, blues, and dark gothic imagery.
Twelve studio albums between Danzig (1988) and Danzig Sings Elvis (2020). Commercial peak: Danzig (1988), Danzig II: Lucifuge (1990), Danzig III: How the Gods Kill (1992), and Danzig 4 (1994, featuring "Mother" — which became Danzig's only top-40 hit after MTV picked it up in 1994). Danzig has also pursued the comic-book publishing imprint Verotik.
