American drummer (1948-2015). Best known as the drummer on Crosby, Stills & Nash's eponymous 1969 debut, as well as Stephen Stills's solo work. Subsequent recurring health issues — including a liver transplant — shaped much of his post-touring career.
Drummed on Crosby, Stills & Nash (1969) and on multiple early Stills solo albums. Worked as a substance-abuse counselor for many years after his own recovery. Released the autobiography Prisoner of Woodstock (1994) chronicling the late-1960s and early-1970s music scene.
