Australian-New Zealand rock band formed in Melbourne in 1985. Long-running lineup: Neil Finn (vocals/guitar), Paul Hester (drums, 1985-1994, died 2005), and Nick Seymour (bass). Various second guitarists/keyboardists have included Mark Hart, Tim Finn (Neil's brother, formerly of Split Enz), and Neil's son Liam Finn.
Seven studio albums between the self-titled 1986 debut and Gravity Stairs (2024). Commercial peak: Crowded House (1986, featuring "Don't Dream It's Over"), Temple of Low Men (1988), and Woodface (1991). Hester died by suicide in 2005. The band has continued under Neil Finn's leadership.
