American rock band formed in Rockford, Illinois in 1973. Classic lineup: Robin Zander (vocals), Rick Nielsen (guitar), Tom Petersson (bass), and Bun E. Carlos (drums). Nielsen and Petersson have been continuous since the band's formation; Carlos's regular touring ended in 2010, replaced by Nielsen's son Daxx.
Their 1979 live album Cheap Trick at Budokan — recorded in Tokyo, originally released as a Japan-only import that became a US smash — turned the band into international stars and produced their breakthrough single "I Want You to Want Me." Twenty studio albums total. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
