English rock band formed in London in 1992. Long-running lineup centered on Gavin Rossdale (vocals/guitar). Other key members included Nigel Pulsford (guitar, 1992-2002), Dave Parsons (bass, 1992-2002), and Robin Goodridge (drums, 1992-2002). One of the few British bands to achieve more commercial success in the US than at home.
Nine studio albums starting with Sixteen Stone (1994, multi-platinum in the US, featuring "Glycerine," "Comedown," and "Machinehead"). Subsequent peak: Razorblade Suitcase (1996) and The Science of Things (1999). The band dissolved in 2002 and reformed in 2010 with a new lineup behind Rossdale.
