American alternative rock band formed in Providence, Rhode Island in 1991 by Tanya Donelly (vocals/guitar, formerly of Throwing Muses and the Breeders). Lineup also included Tom Gorman (guitar), Chris Gorman (drums), and Fred Abong (bass, 1991-1993, replaced by Gail Greenwood).
Three studio albums between Star (1993) and Dove (2018). Star sold over 1 million copies in the US on the strength of "Feed the Tree" and "Gepetto." The band split in 1996 and reunited in 2016 for the Dove album and accompanying tour.
