Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Halmstad in 1995 by guitarist Michael Amott. Vocalists: Johan Liiva (1995-2000), Angela Gossow (2000-2014), and Alissa White-Gluz (since 2014). The band's vocalist change to a woman in 2000 — and again in 2014 — was notable in a male-dominated genre.
Eleven studio albums starting with Black Earth (1996). Commercial peak: Wages of Sin (2001), Anthems of Rebellion (2003), and Doomsday Machine (2005). Amott's brother Christopher Amott has been in and out of the band on second guitar.
