American country band formed in Fort Payne, Alabama in 1969 (originally as Wildcountry). Long-running lineup: cousins Randy Owen (vocals/guitar), Teddy Gentry (bass/vocals), and Jeff Cook (guitar/fiddle/keyboards, 1969-2017, died 2022). Among the most commercially successful country acts of the 1980s.
Released 21 studio albums between My Home's in Alabama (1980) and Southern Drawl (2015). Won the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year three years in a row (1982-1984). Career sales exceed 75 million units. Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
