American singer-songwriter born September 8, 1960, in Richmond, Virginia. First gained prominence as bassist/vocalist of 'Til Tuesday (1982-1990), best known for "Voices Carry." Launched a successful solo career after the band's dissolution.
Released ten solo studio albums between Whatever (1993) and Queens of the Summer Hotel (2021). Critical peak: Bachelor No. 2 or, the Last Remains of the Dodo (2000) and the Magnolia (1999) soundtrack, which she largely composed and performed. The song "Save Me" from the Magnolia soundtrack was nominated for an Academy Award. Two-time Grammy winner.
