German heavy metal band formed in Solingen in 1976. Long-running lineup centered on guitarist Wolf Hoffmann. Vocalists: Udo Dirkschneider (1976-1987, 1992-1996, 2005) and Mark Tornillo (since 2009). One of the foundational European heavy metal bands.
Sixteen studio albums starting with Accept (1979). Commercial peak: Restless and Wild (1982), Balls to the Wall (1983, featuring the title track), and Metal Heart (1985). Dirkschneider departed permanently in 2005 to focus on his own band U.D.O. Accept resumed in 2009 with new vocalist Mark Tornillo and have released seven subsequent albums.
