It is sad that it takes such an event for people to debate the laws, but Ted Nugent has come out following the VT Massacre with a cautious and well-thought reason why gun control isn’t the answer.
Pray for the families of victims everywhere, America. Study the methodology of evil. It has a profile, a system, a preferred environment where victims cannot fight back. Embrace the facts, demand upgrade and be certain that your children’s school has a better plan than Virginia Tech or Columbine. Eliminate the insanity of gun-free zones, which will never, ever be gun-free zones. They will only be good guy gun-free zones, and that is a recipe for disaster written in blood on the altar of denial. I, for one, refuse to genuflect there.

I hate to break it to all you Tennessee Titan fans out there, but it looks like Vince Young will be the cover boy for Madden 2008.
Madden cover boys have missed game in all of the last seasons. Some with season-ending injuries.
Yesterday when I heard that NBC had a package from the Virginia Tech shooter (name omitted on purpose), I knew it was only a matter of time before they aired it. When somebody in my office asked about it yesterday, my first reaction was “They will air it”, but there are a million reasons why they shouldn’t. In the end, they did air it and even branded all the images with NBC so as to not miss any marketing opportunities anytime another outlet showed them.
This man should get no audience … zip … zero … zilch … nada. Shame on you NBC. You made a cold blooded murder a celebrity.
When people do the usual and “blame the games” they probably never thought they would get an earful from …. Rush Limbaugh?
CALLER: What I really think is an issue is video violence, video gaming. I will guarantee you, I’ll bet my last dollar in my pocket, that this shooter will be found to have been a compulsive video gamer, and when people are living that kind of lifestyle — and college students do this a lot.
RUSH: (sigh) Let’s say you’re right. Not every video gamer goes out and murders 33 people on the college campus though. There’s more to this than that. We can find all kinds of societal problems and ills, but the fact of the matter is that whatever you would look at as a bad influence — video games as you mentioned — it may desensitize people, but it doesn’t turn everybody into mass murderers.

Over the past day, I have been busy trying to explain to co-workers that Blacksburg is in a state called Virginia and it is not part of West Virginia. Seems like over the last 24 hours, everyone now has a sudden interest in the city which slipped under the radar for many years and is known only from the college sports teams it produces.
This interest of course stems from the shooting that occurred at Virginia Tech yesterday, and as of now the body count is at least 31 people. 31 people who were robbed of their lives in the prime years. People who have known nothing other than school and had not yet got to experience many of the wonderful moments that life has to offer.
31 students who most likely have never fallen helplessly in love or watched their first child take their first breath.
My prayers are with the families of all who were injured yesterday in these tragic events.
